In January 1990 Fred and Sharon Pickens opened Pickens Hardwoods. They had been brokering truck and container loads of hardwood lumber since 1980 and had always felt that there was a market for a shop that would sell hardwoods in small quantities. Pickens Hardwoods opened in a 2,000 square foot warehouse with Southern Oak, Ash, Poplar, and Walnut being the main species stocked. Planning was the only service offered. In July 1995 the move was made to the current facility, which is over 50,000 square feet in size. Over the years new domestic species have been added as well as many exotics. Now approximately 50 different species are available, most in variety of thicknesses.About Us
